Every September for the past few years, I have had the pleasure of taking part in the Norwich Global Village Market's (www.norwichglobalvillagemarket.co.uk) yearly African & Caribbean Market. However as a result of the pandemic the wonderful organisors Sophie and Rob were unable to have the physical event therefore have decided to take it online which I’m delighted to be a part of.

I will be selling my new Art prints and 3D cards from my Motherland range, which was inspired by my Congolese heritage.

The event will bring together a range of exciting and unique products by vendors including Caribbean & West African chilli sauces, natural skincare & haircare, children's books & puzzles, biltong & rum, adults' & kids' clothing & accessories, single origin chocolate, art & homewares, djembe & drumming accessories, jollof rice and so much more!

Feel free to join the event from the comfort of your own home via the following Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/events/553092555540448/

I look forward to virtually connecting with you all :)

“A baby fills a place in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Author Unknown

I was inspired to create the Zemi-Pregnancy cards because I wanted to introduce a contemporary African inspired pregnancy card to complement my Motherland greeting card range. I kept getting asked whether I had any suitable cards also incorporating African print fabrics which may be a great fit for giving out as ‘Thank you’ cards to attendees at baby showers or even just to congratulate a new pregnancy. So after several sketches and ideas the Zemi-Pregancy card was born.

So what does Zemi actually mean?

I get asked this quite a lot actually but Zemi actually means ‘Pregnant’ in Lingala which is a Bantu language spoken throughout the northwestern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a large part of the Republic of the Congo, as well as to some degree in Angola and the Central African Republic. It has over 10 million speakers.

So there you have it! I hope you have a better understanding of the inspiration and meaning behind the Zemi – Pregnancy cards :)

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Generation success (www.generation-success.com ) & BT women’s network event for International Women’s day at the BT headquarters in London.

I met some fantastic women who have certainly inspired my current Art project which I hope to be able to exhibit at the end of the year.

The event featured a panel of truly inspiring female leaders who included:

• Dr. Yvonne Thompson CBE - Founder of Choice FM and Author of 7 Traits of Highly

Successful Women on Boards

•Alison Wilcox - BT, HR Director

• Catherine Possamai - Capita Plc, Director of Talent and Resourcing

• Lisa Ashworth - PR Newswire, CEO

• Lt Col Lucy Giles - First woman commander appointed to lead at Sandhurst

Below: Me with key note speaker Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE (www.7traits.co.uk )

Overall the event was fantastic and very inspiring. My current Art project is focused on ‘empowering women’ so as you can imagine I have a lot of ideas to sketch after last night’s event :)
